Competitive Benefits Package

Health Benefits

ALL EMPLOYEES

Options offered: Kaiser HMO, Kaiser CDHP*, Anthem HMO, Anthem PPO and Anthem CDHP*.  There is no employee contribution for employee-only coverage.

MANAGEMENT

For coverage other than employee-only, the contribution is 20% of the total premium after the amount of the employee-only premium is subtracted for the plan selected.

UNION

Each employee that covers a spouse or other dependent on the District’s health insurance plan will contribute the lesser of $225 per month or 20% of the monthly premium for the plan selected after subtracting the premium cost of the applicable single plan contained within the same plan. Employees enrolled in full family coverage will contribute the lesser of $360 per month or 20% of the monthly premium for the plan selected after subtracting the premium cost of the applicable single plan contained within the same plan.

MANAGEMENT

District makes all contributions.

UNION

The employer contributes $175 monthly toward premiums.

Retirement

ALL EMPLOYEES

CalPERS 2% @ 62 plan. Employees contribute 6.750% of their salary or wage, and the employer contributes 7.732%. Qualifying “classic” members are eligible for the 2.5% @ 55 plan. Participation is immediate upon hire. Sick leave can be accrued and used for various purposes upon retirement.

MANAGEMENT

The District covers both, employer and employee,
contributions for classic members.

UNION

For “classic” members, the District covers half of the required 8% employee contribution.

Deferred Compensation

MANAGEMENT

The District offers matching contributions up to a maximum of $3,500 annually.

UNION

The District offers matching contributions up to a maximum of $3,000 annually.

Vacation Accrual

0-5 yrs / 12 days
6-10 yrs / 18 days
11-15 yrs / 21 days
16-24 yrs / 24 days
25+ yrs / 26 days

Administrative Leave: Exempt (salaried) employees receive 40 hours administrative leave per year. This leave does not “roll over.”

**Note: Not all members of the Management Unit are Exempt employees.

UNION

Employees in certain job classifications accrue an additional two days of vacation each continuous month worked during the irrigation season. Vacation may be scheduled after six months of employment.

Holidays

ALL EMPLOYEES

The District observes ten holidays each year. Additionally, each employee receives two floating holidays annually.

Holidays observed are:

  • Presidents Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Day after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

Additional Benefits

Sick Leave

Sick leave is accrued at the rate of eight hours per month. Sick leave may be used after 90 days of employment.

Examinations and Continuing Education

The District will reimburse the cost of qualifying job-related education.

Work Boots

The District provides an allowance of up to $275 annually for the purchase of work boots when required.

Union Membership

General Unit employees are represented by the IBEW Local 1245.
